Who we are
We are a husband and wife small business based out of Fountain Hills, AZ. After 40+ years of working in corporate America, it was time to do what I truly love – making things from wood. This is now what I do each and every day. It’s wonderful!
Meet Mike
I have been a woodworker for nearly 40 years making items for my family and friends. In the early 1990’s I had a small craft business but with a full-time job, I was working non-stop and just couldn’t keep it up with a growing family. I am now doing woodworking full time – and am thrilled to be able to share my passion with you. Check out “the full history” in our blog to learn more about our journey
Meet joan
I have been woodworking for about 15 years having learned most of what I know from my husband. I started out helping Mike with projects. Once I became proficient and confident using the tools I started creating my own pieces. I enjoy making smaller items such
as keepsake boxes, wall art and candle holders. I enjoy working in the shop, learning new techniques and spending time with Mike.
What We Do
We like to make stuff out of wood. I know it doesn’t sound sophisticated and it’s not a great marketing slogan, but it’s true. We really enjoy transforming lumber into a creation. We make a variety of small items like Charcuterie boards and boxes, but we also build custom furniture. Need something special for a gift? Let us know, we’d be happy to help you out.
how we started
Many things we have created started with the phrase, “I am not going to pay that for a piece of junk when I can make it better myself” – boy has that cost a lot of money over the years, but it’s also given the opportunity to create exactly what we want. Did it save me money? Not really, but it will last forever – and it was fun. Then friends would ask, “where did you get that?” usually followed by, “would you make me one? “
Natural wood is the focus of most of our work
We use a lot of different woods in our pieces and prefer not to use stains or dyes unless need for a particular item. We love the natural beauty of the wood and often highlight a unique grain in one of our creations. We take pride in the beauty and quality of what we create.
our capabilities
We have a fully equipped workshop with a wide range of traditional power and hand tools. A large footprint CNC router adds amazing capabilities for custom shapes, engraving and carving, including custom plaques and signs. Learn more about our shop and capabilities in our blog.
